Default Australian guild wars server

Australia definetly needs a guild wars server , the pacific ocean is way to much lag for the gamers here, alot of people have returned world of warcraft to the store for that very reason, a server in the US and korea just isnt going to cut it.....
I probably wont be buying it if aus doesnt get one..., who wants 250+ms jitters?

There have been others from Oz that say they can play it fine with not to much latency. This game will be different becuase you get your own maps, so the lag will be reduced alot. The only time you will experience the heavy lag, will be in the towns and outposts.

250ms is not noticeable. It's not until 400ms+ that you will notice slight lag, and not until 800+ for lag that might hamper gameplay.

I'm in Brisbane, and I generally have a latency of around 150ms to the game servers, sometimes less, sometimes more. Even in towns I wouldn't get more than 300ms, and that's barely noticable.

I play Guild Wars on dial-up and have no major problems. About the only time I get lag issue's is when I enter a town/outpost which has a *lot* of people in it.. then I sit for a tab on the "loading" page while my connection gets me into the town.. but apart from that I don't have any lag issue's. I can get into big fights with lots of critters and have no problems.. I do rubber-band a fair bit, but it's nothing game breaking..

An Australian (even a SE Asian) server would be severely underpopulated, though. I played GW for two weeks with a 56k modem, and there was hardly any problem with lag. There are only a few isolated incidents, but that happens to everone, no matter where they are.

I'm from Oz, and I don't get much lag from the American servers. I'm only on 256kb DSL.
An Australian server would be nice.

Aussie here also, no problems with lag whatsoever. And if Europe are lucky to get favour every month or so :P i doubt we'd ever get it.

Same with me, my download speed is capped at 50k and I get no problems at all. If there was a real issue with lag here in OZ then I think we would see alot more chatter about it.

No problems here too, Perth, then again I have "up to 6mb" connection
Also how do you check your ping? There is no console :/

I was living in Melb earlier this year and the line seems okay to me, pinging at about 150 to 250ms.

dialup from brisbane. It's fine, except it's practically impossible to interrupt 1second-cast spells. Oh well.

I know ppl who play GW on Dial up and connect to US or Europe servers, no huge lag.

I myself run 512, so i dont get lag, unless there's some spikes goin on, in which case I lag for 10 mins, then suddenly......no lag at all. and its rare i get that.

I think an Oceana/Asia Paciffic server would be nice though. South East Asia, Australia, India, and the paciffic islands.

there are probably about 50000 australians playing gw, and if we get a SE asia server there will probably be another 120-200 thousand people playing from all those countries.

I play on US servers, now they have changed the Favor system, and usually get a Green connection dot.

Gustav: What is your basis for stating 50,000 aussies? Is this a fact or something you guessed?

Hover over the little coloured dot that is usually in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, unless you have rearranged your screen pallete.

You do realize how old this thread is, right? Favor was held by each country and there was no latency monitor back in 2005...
